Who is the expert? Positioning of Students as Researchers
This interactive panel discussion explores what research-based education means at the University of Helsinki and outside the academia. Despite gaining fundamental skills in conducting research and thinking like a researcher, students are often not considered as knowledge-creators. How might we reconsider the line between student and researcher?
Who is perceived as able to provide insights? What strengths might students have that provide other insights than researchers for many years in their fields? What does a more joint learning and knowledge community look like? What types of roles can students have in contributing to research? How are research skills adding value to students’ success in work life, in or outside the academia?
Panelists:
- Moderator: Student Empowerment Lead in Una Europa Stinne Vognaes (University of Helsinki)
- Senior University Lecturer Markku Sippola (University of Helsinki)
